Aptitude tests and ring trials

Why we participate and what you get out of it

In order to maintain accreditation for our testing laboratory, we are generally obliged to participate in proficiency tests and interlaboratory comparisons. This allows us to validate reported results and demonstrate the qualifications of our laboratory experts. At the same time, we demonstrate our expertise in carrying out test procedures and test methods. This creates trust and transparency for our customers and is also the basis for including new procedures and methods in the accreditation.

Proficiency test or ring test?

What is the difference between a proficiency test and an ring test? Only an accredited provider in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043 may carry out a proficiency test. It is officially authorised by the DAkkS to offer a proficiency test within the scope of accreditation. The ring test is offered by a provider without this accreditation, but is based on this standard. A comparison between laboratories with the comparison and evaluation of the respective results is also considered a ring test.
